Michael Platts

Before joining Tutwiler and Associates Inc. in 1994, Mike began his career as an all-lines property claims adjuster with Allstate Insurance. He currently holds licenses as an all-lines Public Adjuster License in the state of Florida. Mike has been certified by both the State of Florida for windstorm claims handling and by the Federal Government Management Association (FEMA) for flood adjustment. Michael concentrates his public adjusting skills in the areas of large commercial losses. However he also has extensive experience in residential claims representation and is a WIND Certified Appraiser®.

One of the things Michael enjoys most about being a public adjuster and working with clients is ”the satisfaction of knowing that I have helped individuals and businesses survive some of the toughest situations which they have to face and have helped to minimize their economic loss.” He is committed to the concept that consumers have the right to recover the full amount of their benefits they are entitled under the property insurance contract they have purchased, when they have suffered an insurance loss.

His professional memberships include the: National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA) and the Windstorm Insurance Network (WIND). Mike has presented several workshops for the WIND annual conferences that reflect his nearly 30 years of experience handling denied property insurance claims for both residential and commercial clients. Some of his presentation topics have included: Negotiations: Get That Claim Settled; Claims After the Storm: The Supplemental Loss; The Psychology of Good Claims Handling and most recently in February of 2016, Storybook 101: Interactions Between Insureds, Insurers and Their Respective Representatives.

Born to a military family, Mike put himself through college earning his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of South Florida. He is a devoted historian by avocation. He is the Business Partner for Monroe Institute of Technology (a Tampa Middle School) and regularly donates copies of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence on behalf of Tutwiler and Associates. This allows every 8th grade student to have their personal copy of our country’s founding documents.
