A national hotel franchisee suffered damage when Hurricane Frances made landfall on Florida's east coast. The hotel owner's insurance agent reassured her that the hotel would be back in business within three to four weeks. The insurance company's adjuster inspected the damage and calculated damages of approximately $500,000.00. Keith Grams of Tutwiler and Associates Inc. completed a thorough damage inspection of the entire building and furnishings and arrived at a damage amount much higher than the insurance company's figures. After several months of additional inspections and continual negotiations, the claim was settled for more than SIX TIMES the amount of the insurance company's original damage estimates.
