Southern-Style Residential House Fire

Southern-Style Residential House Fire

On June 14, 2008 a fire broke out in an undetermined location in this beautiful third-generation southern-style residential home causing massive damage to the floors, walls, roof, exterior finishings, and the personal property located all throughout the home.

The owner of the home and his insurance company had been in controversy with this claim for sometime because the fire investigation revealed that the cause of the fire might have been arson.

After the insurance company's initial offer, the family realized they could not repair the home for that amount and decided it was not worth the time, energy, and effort to continue dealing with their insurance company's hardball claims adjusting tactics.

Shortly thereafter, the family decided it was in their best interest to hire professional help and decided to retain the services of public adjuster Rick Tutwiler. Mr. Tutwiler worked extensively with the insurance carrier’s assigned adjusters to no avail and after five months of insurance company delay, he decided to move forward with an alternative dispute resolution process called appraisal.

While also serving as the family's appraiser, Mr. Tutwiler successfully negotiated a settlement for $158,752.94 -- representing an increase of $83,752.94 over the insurance company's initial offer! Ultimately family was able to repair their home that had been in the family for over three generations.
