On March 16, 2009 an electrical fire erupted in the office room of this upscale condominium unit located at the Plaza Harbor Island on the exclusive Harbor Island in downtown Tampa. Fire and smoke quickly spread causing serious damage to many of the unit’s fixtures and personal property items. The unit further suffered massive water damage as a result of the fire department’s massive effort to extinguish the fire before it spread to the rest of the condominium building.
Having consulted with Rick Tutwiler in the past on an unrelated matter, the owner quickly contacted him after hours, on the weekend to enlist his services. The following morning, Mr. Tutwiler was on-site documenting the loss and damages needed for the claim.
Also, having developed a positive working relationship with the insurance company’s assigned adjuster in the past, Mr. Tutwiler was able to expedite an advance payment while the settlement negotiations with the insurance carrier’s representatives were taking place. The owner, a very busy business professional, was able to find another place to reside and quickly returned to his normal daily work routine having removed the burden and stress of having to detail his personal property damages and coordinate the multiple inspections needed to substantiate the claim for his building damages.
In conclusion, Mr. Tutwiler’s detailed loss and damage report was a key factor in helping the owner to obtain full policy limits for the building portion of the claim as well as full policy limits for the owner’s personal property and furniture items.
Furthermore, to the insurance company’s satisfaction, the additional living expenses were kept at a minimum as all parties fully cooperated to resolve the claim in a timely manner.
