Water damage was originally thought to be the cause of loss which made the bathroom tile buckle and fall from the wall. An adjuster was assigned after the homeowner called the insurance company and reported the damage. Upon closer inspection the by the adjuster is was believed to be a sinkhole that was causing the damage. After testing confirmed that a sinkhole existed under the residence the insurance company tendered a payment for the damage in the amount of $40,000.00. After realizing that the carrier was not willing to properly adjust the sinkhjole loss, the insured retained Charles R. Tutwiler & Associates. We assembled our claim and began several rounds of lengthy negotiations with th e carrier. We successfully settled the claim and presented the insured a total payment in the amount of $240,000.00.
